残疾保险 (Disability)
对于企业,残疾保险的险种可以包括:Overhead Expense Plan(企业费用保险计划,用于支付企业拥有者无法工作时的企业日常费用)、Buy/Sell Plan(买卖合同计划,用于当一个股权人或合伙人完全失去工作能力时,提供资金给其他股权人或合伙人用以购买其股权)、以及Keyperson Plan(企业核心人员保险计划,用于当企业核心人员失去工作能力时,保护企业利益)。
Disability Insurance
By Empire Life
Disability insurance is designed to replace income you lose if you become unable to work due to an accident or illness. Many people have some form of disability insurance, either through their employer or through government benefits such as Employment Insurance or the Quebec/Canada Pension Plan.
Long-term disability plans provided by an employer, or purchased privately, pay an insurance benefit based on a percentage of your employment income, usually 66% of your gross wages. The benefit is payable after the waiting period (usually from 30 to 180 days) has expired. The insurance company will continue to pay you this benefit for as long as you remain disabled or until the benefit period runs out, whichever comes first. Many disability programs provide benefits to age 65; however some plans have benefit periods as short as five years.
You also have to satisfy the "definition of disability" for your insurance plan. Under many disability plans, this means you are considered disabled if you are unable to perform "any occupation" for which you are reasonably trained or suited. For example, you may not be able to perform the duties of your previous position, but you may be able to work at a different job. In this case, you may not be eligible for benefits.
What is Disability Insurance?
By Canada Life
Disability insurance provides you with financial security when an accident or illness causes you to be disabled and unable to work or earn an income.
Disability insurance replaces a portion of your income if you become unable, through injury or illness, to work. Policies differ on how soon you would collect benefits and for how long. They also vary in whether disability benefits are received if you can't perform the duties of your own occupation, a job in your field, or any job at all.
A life insurance benefit is usually payable in a lump-sum, and this payment ends the contract. Disability insurance benefits are almost always payable on a monthly basis, while disability continues. Upon recovery from a disability, the policy continues. Benefits could potentially be payable again for subsequent disabilities or for the recurrence of a prior disability.
Why Do I Need Disability Insurance?
Most people are unaware of the startling disability statistics. Often they have purchased life insurance to protect their families in the event of death.
In fact, the odds are far greater that a person will become disabled in a given year than that he or she will die. There is at least an eight times greater chance of suffering a disability of at least 90 days as compared to the chances of death (up to age 37). While death may be inevitable, disability is more probable at any given age.
